Everything you need to know before your first consultation — from treatment basics to travel logistics and legal rights.
Getting Started
How do I know if IRMC is right for me?
IRMC treats a wide range of conditions — from low ovarian reserve and recurrent miscarriage to complex cases requiring egg donation, sperm donation, or gestational surrogacy. If you have had difficulty conceiving, failed previous IVF cycles, or face a medical condition that complicates pregnancy, we encourage you to contact us for a no-obligation initial assessment.
How do I get started?
The first step is a consultation — either remotely by video call or in person at our Bishkek clinic. You can request this through our contact page. If you can, send us a brief summary of your medical history when you enquire. This allows our specialists to come prepared with relevant questions and initial observations.
Can I have my first consultation before travelling to Bishkek?
Yes. Most international patients begin with a remote consultation via video call. This allows us to review your history, answer your questions, and outline the most likely treatment path — before you commit to travelling. Many patients find that a single remote conversation clarifies months of uncertainty.
Travel & Logistics
Do I need a visa to visit Kyrgyzstan?
Kyrgyzstan offers visa-free entry for citizens of many countries, including China, EU member states, and others. Citizens of countries that do require a visa can apply for an e-Visa online. Our coordination team will advise on your specific nationality when you enquire.
How long will I need to stay in Bishkek?
This depends on your treatment. For a standard IVF cycle, most patients spend approximately 10–14 days in Bishkek for the active monitoring and retrieval phase. For a frozen embryo transfer, a second shorter visit of 5–7 days is typically required. Surrogacy programmes generally require two trips: one for the IVF cycle and one for the birth. Remote monitoring between visits is supported via teleconsultation.
What accommodation is available near the clinic?
IRMC's coordination team can suggest accommodation options near the clinic across a range of budgets. Bishkek is an affordable city with good hotel and serviced apartment options. Many patients find the cost of accommodation and daily life in Bishkek significantly lower than they expected.
Is it safe to travel to Kyrgyzstan?
Bishkek is a stable, modern capital city. International patients from across Asia and Europe visit IRMC regularly, and the clinic has extensive experience supporting patients with travel logistics. Our coordination team is available to answer any practical questions about visiting Kyrgyzstan.
Legal & Rights
Is surrogacy legal in Kyrgyzstan?
Yes. Gestational surrogacy is explicitly regulated under the Kyrgyz Family Code. The intended parents — not the gestational carrier — are recognised as the legal parents on the birth certificate from the outset. This applies to heterosexual couples and, in many circumstances, to single individuals. Our legal team will advise on your specific situation.
Who will be listed on the birth certificate?
Under Kyrgyz law, the intended parents are listed on the birth certificate as the legal parents. The gestational carrier has no parental claim. Our legal team manages the birth registration process and ensures all documentation is in order before parents leave Kyrgyzstan.
Can I use donor eggs or donor sperm without legal complications?
Egg and sperm donation are legally permitted in Kyrgyzstan. Donors undergo thorough medical and psychological screening, and all donations are made under legal agreements that protect all parties. Donor identity is anonymised in accordance with clinic policy and local law.
Will my home country recognise the Kyrgyz birth registration?
This depends on your nationality and your home country's laws regarding surrogacy and parentage. IRMC's legal team has experience with the documentation requirements of many countries. We strongly recommend discussing your specific nationality during your initial consultation so we can advise on the process before treatment begins.
Treatment & Cost
How much does treatment cost at IRMC?
Treatment costs vary depending on the specific protocol, any additional procedures required (such as PGT genetic screening), and whether third-party donors or a gestational carrier are involved. IRMC provides a detailed, itemised cost breakdown at the outset of treatment — before any commitment is required. Contact our team for a personalised estimate.
What does the cost include?
The detailed cost breakdown provided at the start of your journey will specify exactly what is and is not included. Typically this covers all medical consultations, laboratory procedures, monitoring appointments, and medications during treatment. For surrogacy programmes, carrier coordination and legal support are included within the programme fee.
How does IRMC's cost compare with clinics in other countries?
IRMC was specifically positioned to offer US-standard clinical quality at a cost significantly below equivalent clinics in the United States, Western Europe, or Australia. Many patients find that travel, accommodation, and treatment combined at IRMC is still considerably less expensive than treatment alone in their home country.
Language & Support
What languages does IRMC support?
IRMC's team is fully bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese. Medical consultations, written communications, and all patient documentation can be provided in both languages. Our coordination team handles all liaison between the patient and the clinical team.
How will I communicate with my medical team during treatment?
Your assigned coordinator is your primary point of contact throughout treatment. They are reachable via WhatsApp, phone, or email and are available to answer questions, schedule appointments, and relay clinical updates. Video consultations with the treating physician can be arranged at any stage.
What support is available between my visits to Bishkek?
Teleconsultation with IRMC's medical team is available throughout your treatment journey. For patients in surrogacy programmes, the obstetric team provides regular pregnancy updates and supports your remote monitoring with your home physician. You are never left without access to clinical advice.
After Treatment
What follow-up is provided after I return home?
IRMC provides teleconsultation follow-up after treatment. For IVF and embryo transfer cycles, our team monitors your early pregnancy and supports the transition to your home physician or obstetrician. For surrogacy programmes, our obstetric team continues to oversee the pregnancy in Bishkek, with regular updates shared with you remotely.
Can I share my IRMC records with my home doctor?
Yes. Comprehensive medical records, including all cycle data, laboratory results, and clinical notes, are provided to patients. These can be shared with your local physician to support continuity of care. Our coordinators can assist with translating documentation if required.
What if my cycle is unsuccessful?
If a cycle does not result in a pregnancy, our team will review the outcome in detail and discuss what can be learned from it. Many patients who did not succeed elsewhere have gone on to successful outcomes at IRMC through a revised protocol. We will always be honest about what we believe the next best step is.
