What is PGD / PGS?
Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) and Preimplantation Genetic Screening (PGS) are advanced techniques that allow us to examine the genetic composition of embryos before they are transferred to the uterus. By selecting only chromosomally normal (euploid) embryos, we significantly reduce the risk of miscarriage, chromosomal conditions such as Down syndrome, and repeated IVF failure.
At IRMC, all biopsies are performed at the blastocyst stage (day 5-6) using trophectoderm biopsy — the most accurate and embryo-safe method available. Results are typically returned within 2 weeks from our partner genetics laboratory.

Common Questions
What is 3rd Generation IVF? +
Third-generation IVF adds preimplantation genetic testing (PGD/PGS) to conventional IVF. Embryos are biopsied at the blastocyst stage and screened for chromosomal abnormalities before transfer, dramatically reducing the risk of miscarriage and improving live birth rates.
How long does one IVF cycle take? +
A standard fresh cycle from stimulation to transfer takes approximately 4–6 weeks. If a freeze-all strategy is used for a subsequent frozen embryo transfer, add 4–8 weeks for the transfer cycle.
What is IRMC's IVF success rate? +
IRMC's cumulative success rate is 75% — among the highest for IVF centres in the region. Individual success rates vary by age, diagnosis, and number of euploid embryos available.
Can I travel home after embryo transfer? +
Most patients can fly within 2–3 days of transfer. Our care team will provide detailed post-transfer guidance and remain available via teleconsultation for your return journey.
Is IVF legal in Kyrgyzstan? +
Yes. Assisted reproductive technology, including IVF with PGD/PGS genetic screening, is fully legal and practised under established medical regulation in Kyrgyzstan.
