Becoming a Father, on His Own Terms

Patient

Mr Lin, age 38

Route

Egg donation + gestational surrogacy

Legal framework

Kyrgyz Family Code

Outcome

Healthy son, legally registered

IRMC surrogacy and egg donation consultation Kyrgyzstan

Mr Lin had wanted to be a father for most of his adult life. At 38, senior in his career and settled in what he wanted from life, the missing piece was clear — he just hadn't found a way to achieve it that he trusted. He was single, and intended to remain so. He needed a legal path, a professional team, and a country where the process was genuinely supported.

He had researched options in multiple countries. Most were prohibitively expensive, legally ambiguous, or both. Kyrgyzstan's legal framework stood out: gestational surrogacy is explicitly regulated under the Kyrgyz Family Code, with intended parents recognised on the birth certificate from the outset — including, in his case, a single male parent.

"I needed to know the legal ground was solid before I could even think about the rest. That was step one."

— Mr Lin, age 38

IRMC's legal team walked Mr Lin through the entire regulatory framework in his first consultation — what was required, what documentation would be needed, and what the birth registration process would look like for his situation and nationality. Only once those questions were answered clearly did the medical process begin.

An egg donor was matched through IRMC's screening programme — matched on physical characteristics and blood type, fully anonymised. IVF was performed using Mr Lin's sperm and the donor's eggs. Several embryos developed to the blastocyst stage; two were chromosomally normal following PGT screening.

IRMC then matched a gestational carrier — a carefully screened surrogate who was medically and psychologically evaluated, and who signed a comprehensive legal agreement protecting all parties. The embryo transfer was successful. Mr Lin was in regular contact with the IRMC coordination team throughout the pregnancy, receiving updates and attending key appointments remotely.

His son was born in Bishkek. Mr Lin flew in for the birth. "I don't have the words for that moment," he said. "I didn't think I would."

IRMC's legal team supported the birth registration and documentation process, and Mr Lin returned home with his son within weeks of delivery.
